Now that our new little girl is a month old, I’ve been spending a lot more time in the kitchen. She is sleeping for longer periods of time, giving me enough time to make a pot of soup.
We’ve been in our house for two years and I tell myself how lucky I am to have a big kitchen just about every day. It’s not huge, but it’s still way bigger than any apartment kitchen I’ve ever had. I love cooking in my kitchen. I don’t even really mind doing dishes as long as I have a podcast to listen to!
Despite my love for our kitchen, it is one of the rooms in our house that we want to remodel, mostly because it’s just so plain. Brown wood cabinets, white counters, and late 1980s wallpaper with a brown, wheat print. Totally not our style, but totally functional. So, needless to say, it’s pretty much last on our list of projects.
To make the room more fun, I am slowly filling it with brightly colored vintage stuff from thrift stores and garage sales.
One of my favorite vintage items to decorate with and use in our kitchen is a colorful vintage apron. They come in every color and pattern you can imagine. Hang one on a hook in your kitchen for instant color. I especially love a good patchwork print apron!
The best part is that most of them cost between $10 and $15 on Etsy. If you are in the market for a fancy apron, there are some more expensive ones too.
So, if you are looking for a way to brighten your next dish-washing session (and who isn’t?) it may be time to don a colorful vintage apron. I think a vintage apron is also just about the best hostess gift you can give to your stylish, vintage-loving friend.
